The Folegandros Experience

Ampelos was created out of our love for the island of Folegandros with its nature, people, history and unique Greek atmosphere. We view it as our mission to pass on our love and knowledge about Folegandros uniqueness.

During the last twenty years we have come to know the island very well. We have experienced nearly every mule-path, spent many hours at all the different beaches and taken part in all the special holiday events. We are well acquainted with the the local boats which can take you from beach to beach.

In addition, we can offer you some Island experiences to give you the best possible vacation during your stay on Folegandros:

• A historical stroll through the main village of Hora (mentioned by le. Corbusie as one of the worlds most beautiful and harmonic villages).

• A trip to the farmers village of Ano Meria, which despite its modest appearance, is where most of the islands population is living. Here you will discover how they are still using ancient farming principles, the plow, the loom, the rock-built bread oven and the old cheese factories.

• A visit with our farmer friends and a taste of Folegandros specialties.

• Enjoy the sunset with a glass of Ouzo at the old monastery as we take you through the Island's history.
