Getting There
There are daily services from Piraeus to Folegandros. The distance
is 102 nautical miles and the trip takes 9 hours. Folegandros is a main
stop on the local ferry line Santorini - Milos - Piraeus. There is now
also a hydrofoil connection from Piraeus which takes 3.5 hours. During the summer
season it also has frequent ferries or hydrofoils to Paros, Mikonos, Ios and the near
Sikinos.
From Athens there are several daily flights to Santorini and Milos.
Tickets to Folegandros can be purchased via travel agents in Athens or
online.
Tickets from Folegandros can be purchased in Hora by the Tourist Office or at the harbor.
The bus is the main means of transportation on Folegandros, to take you
either to the port or to the various unpaved roads that lead to the
beaches. You can also reach the beaches by fishing boats that depart daily form the port
of Karavostasi. Motorcycle and bike rentals are also available
The island has a post office, no bank but in 2003 we got a cash machine. In general credit
cards can not be used on the island.
